<p>Althougheconomists have focused on economic growth issue in the early period, distribution of income which is created by economic growth has become one ofthe prominent field in economics as well. This study explores the causalrelationships between income distribution, democracy, real income and tradeopenness in Balkan States for 1996-2010 period by using the second generationpanel data methods under cross-sectional dependence. According tocross-sectional dependence and homogeneity tests, model is cross-sectionallydependent and slope coefficients are heterogeneous. Causal relationships between variables have been examinedby using Konya (2006) panel data causality approach which allowscross-sectional dependence and gives possibility to examine two explanatoryvariables’ effects on dependent variable and obtain country-specific results. The results can be summarized as follows: There exist causal relationships from democracy, real income and tradeopenness to income distribution. Democracy and trade openness have more powerful common effects onincome distribution.</p></trans-abstract>
