Evrensel bir olgu olan, bilinen insanlık tarihinden günümüze dek varlığını devam ettiren ve gelecekte de devam ettirecek olan suç olgusu çeşitli bilim dallarınca incelenmeye çalışılmış, insanoğlunu suça iten pek çok neden olduğu ortaya konulmuştur. Suçun yok olmayacağı bir dünya düzeninde, suçu önleyebilmek için bu sorun iyi tanımlanmalı, nedenleri çok yönlü araştırılmalı ve bu temelde çözüm önerileri geliştirilmelidir. Çeşitli bilim dallarından olan kriminoloji, sosyoloji ve psikoloji bilimleri açısından suçun nedenleri araştırılmaya çalışılmışsa da ekonomik anlamda suç analizine geçmişte çok fazla önem verilmemiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı ise suç ile makroekonomik değişkenler arasındaki ilişkileri analiz etmektir. Bu doğrultuda, GİNİ, KBGSMH ve İşsizlik ile suç arasında ki ilişkiler irdelenmiştir. Bu çalışmada 2019 yılı verileri temel alınarak 118 ülkedeki suç ve makroekonomik değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiler analiz edilmiştir. Ülkelerde kişi başına düşen gayri safi milli hâsıla bahsi arttıkça o ülkedeki suç oranı bahsinin azaldığı, ülkedeki gelir dağılımı dengesizlik bahsi arttıkça da o ülkedeki suç oranı bahsinin de arttığı tahmin edilmiştir.
The phenomenon of crime, which is a universal phenomenon, which has existed from the known human history to the present and will continue in the future, has been tried to be examined by various branches of science, and it has been revealed that there are many reasons that push human beings to crime. In order to prevent crime in a world order where crime will not disappear, this problem should be well defined, its causes should be investigated in multiple ways and solutions should be developed on this basis. Although the causes of crime were tried to be investigated in terms of criminology, sociology and psychology sciences, which are from various disciplines, economic analysis of crime was not given much importance in the past. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationships between crime and macroeconomic variables. In this direction, the relations between GINI, GDP, Unemployment and crime were examined. In this study, the relationships between crime and macroeconomic variables in 118 countries were analyzed based on 2019 data. It is estimated that as the gross national product per capita increases in the countries, the crime rate in that country decreases, and as the income distribution imbalance in the country increases, the crime rate in that country increases.
