IN TURKEY, THE EFFECT OF MACROECONOMIC FACTORS ON DOMESTIC SAVINGS DURING THE PERIOD OF 2000-2014

In this study, the effects of household consumptionexpenditures, public expenditures, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and foreigntrade deficit of macro variables on domestic savings were examined during theperiod of 2000-2014 in Turkey. For this purpose, the stationary levels of thequarterly data of variables in 2000-2014 were investigated with the unit roottests of the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF), Phillips-Perron. Engle-Grangerco-integration test was applied, the long and the short term analyzes were donewith the model of Dynamics Ordinary Least Square Analysis (DOLS). According tothe analysis, the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in this period wasan important factor on the increase in savings. The increase in the foreigntrade balance also affected the savings partially in the positive direction.The increases of the public expenditures and the household consumptionexpenditures also negatively affected the savings.

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’de2000-2014 döneminde hanehalkı tüketim harcamaları, kamu harcamaları, Gayri SafiYurtiçi Hâsıla (GSYH) ve dış ticaret açığı makro değişkenlerinin yurtiçitasarruflara etkileri incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla değişkenlerin 2000-2014 çeyrekdönem verilerinin durağanlık seviyeleri, Genişletilmiş Dickey-Fuller (ADF),Phillips-Perron (PP) birim kök testleri ile araştırılmıştır. Engle-GrangerEşbütünleşme testi uygulanmış, uzun ve kısa dönem analizleri Dinamik En KüçükKareler (DEKK) modeliyle yapılmıştır. Analizegöre bu dönemde GSYH artışı tasarrufların artmasında önemli bir etkendir. Dışticaret açığındaki artış da, tasarrufları kısmi olarak pozitif yöndeetkilemiştir. Kamu harcamaları ve hanehalkı harcamalarındaki artışlar isetasarrufları negatif etkilemiştir.
