Muzaffer Buyrukçu is a prolific writer who has authored many works in different genres; including short-stories, novels, diaries, memories, poems, through his literary life since1950’s. In the world of Turkish literature, he is mostly known with his identity as a “story writer”. While he wrote 21 story books in total until his death in 2006, also there is another book containing a single story published after his death. His works carry deep traces of his own life, although they usually contain people who struggle for life under harsh conditions. Buyrukçu, covers the state of individuals in the middle and lower layers in his stories because he was a child of a poor family and dealing with financial difficulties throughout his life. While writing his stories with the effects of the poverty that prevailed in the country after the Second World War, it is inevitable that the income level of the individuals he narrated is low. In accordance with the atmosphere of the period, there are stories about immigrants and the difficulties experienced by them, that the covers in his works. Also he puts the individuals in the forefront and conveys their reactions and emotional states about what they experienced. In addition, he found social life important and created stories that do not break away from life by putting events and situations that reflect his period. In the stories of Buyrukçu’s, sexuality, inner speech and fantastic elements are in the foreground. Especially male-female relations, we can list the society’s attitude towards women, the feelings that are tried to be suppressed, and the struggles of individuals in various situations, among the prominent elements in the stories. We will start our work by talking about the life of Muzaffer Buyrukçu. Next, we’ll examine “Bulanık Resimler” and “Kavga” then touch on the themes that come to the foreground of Buyrukçu’s stories.
