Bu çalışmada modern toplum ve teknoloji eleştirisi yapan aynı zamanda her bölümünde farklı bir konuyu işleyen Black Mirror dizisinin Hated In The Nation (Sosyal Linç) bölümü örneklemi incelenmiştir. Dizi bölümü, dizide yer alan teknolojik ögeler bağlamında, teknolojiye ilişkin eleştiriler üzerinden ve yöntem olarak Ferdinand de Saussure’un göstergebilimsel yöntemi ve Roland Barthes’ın anlamlandırma yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. Çalışmada, örneklem içerisinde anlatılan teknolojiler ve teknolojik gelişmeler, topluma ve insanlığa faydalı mıdır? İnsan eylemleri üzerinde ne gibi etkiler yaratmaktadır? sorunsalına cevap aranmıştır. Genel olarak analizde teknoloji ve teknolojik gelişmeler ile birlikte sosyal medya hesapları insanların sürekli bir gözetim mekanizması ile çevrelendiği, mahremiyetlerinin yok sayıldığı dahası teknolojinin insanlara faydadan çok zarar getirdiği gözlenmiş ve insanların ötekileştirildiği, yalnızlaştırıldığı, ifşa edildiği, hedef gösterildiği sonuçlarına varılmıştır.
In this study, the sample of the Hated in The Nation episode of the Black Mirror, the series which criticizes modern society and technology while dealing with a different subject in each episode, has been examined. The episode has been examined in the context of the technological elements in the series, by means of criticisms of technology, and as a method, through the semiotic method of Ferdinand de Saussure and the interpretation method of Roland Barthes. This study aims to answer the questions of “Are technologies and technological advancements included in the sample, beneficial to society and humanity? What effects does it have on human actions? Overall, results obtained from the analysis indicated that, in correlation with technology and technological advances, individuals are being surrounded by surveillance mechanisms by social media accounts, their privacy being ignored and moreover, technology doing more harm to people than good while making them more alienated, isolated, exploited and targeted.
