Mehmet Soytas presently serves as the General Manager of Product Management at the National Labor Observatory of Saudi Arabia, where he oversees the management and development of reports and research products. Dr. Soytas previously held positions such as Associate Professor of Economics at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) Business School and Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics at Ozyegin University, Istanbul. Additionally, he has worked as a researcher at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) and held a research position at the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.
His research and expertise cover a wide range of topics in labor economics with a strong foundation in economic modeling and empirical microeconomics. He has made significant contributions to academic journals and publications, notably, his work on understanding the labor market's role in intergenerational mobility got published in prestigious economics journals like the Journal of Monetary Economics and the Quantitative Economics.
His research also received funding from the Turkish National Science Foundation, KAPSARC, and KFUPM. Additionally, he has been a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Pittsburgh, and the Australian National University. Dr. Soytas holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pittsburgh and is a fellow of the Economic Research Forum and the Global Labor Organization.
