Bio

Michael Adonis M. Sudaria is an Agriculturist specializing in Horticulture. He is an Assistant Professor in the College of Agriculture and Technology, Northwest Samar State University main campus in Calbayog City, Samar, Philippines. His recent projects are anchored in the college research and extension goal titled, Organic and Resilient Green Technologies for Food and Agro-industrial Productivity towards Niche Community Support (ORGANICOS). He has published several journal papers that can also be accessed online worldwide on Researchgate, Academia, Semantic scholar, and other open-access platforms. These were made possible through exposures on training and engagement in international projects. Training course on Postharvest Handling Systems of Agricultural Commodities in King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Bangkok, Thailand and an Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR)-Postharvest Project on Improved Postharvest Management of Fruit and Vegetables in the Southern Philippines and Australia. The Horticulture, Environment and Livelihood Promotion (HELP), a project from the Department of Horticulture in Visayas State University had also broadened his perspective in working community extension projects, particularly in agricultural productivity enhancement through science and technology. The author has also worked in the food processing industry as quality analyst or quality control officer and as crop care technician in the agrochemical industry prior to his affiliation in the academe. He earned his degree in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (major in Horticulture) and Master of Science in Horticulture at Visayas State University, ViSCA, Baybay City, Leyte, Philippines with a thesis support from the Department of Science and Technology-Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (DOST-ASTHRDP). Currently, he is pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy in Horticulture minor in environmental science at the University of the Philippines Los Baños through the support of the Commission on Higher Education-Scholarship for Instructors’ Knowledge and Advancement Program (CHED-SIKAP) with the dissertation about the Phytoremediation Potential of Horticultural crop species  to support a rehabilitation and ecological restoration project on heavy metal contaminated agricultural areas along the mine-tailings of an abandoned Bagacay Mines in Samar Philippines.
