She was born in 1965 in Samsun. She completed her undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering at Ondokuz Mayıs University in 1987, her master's degree in 1990, and her Ph.D. in 1996, earning the title of Assistant Professor in 1998. She became an Associate Professor in 2000 and a full Professor in 2006.

In 2000, she participated in the XVII. Advanced Study with a NATO scholarship and the NATO Advanced Study Institute, Innovative Approaches to the Onsite Assessment and Remediation of Contaminated Sites. In 2012, she joined the Civil Engineering Research-Environmental Engineering project at Newcastle University. She has been involved as a coordinator and researcher in various projects, including TÜBİTAK TEYDEP project on Waste Management and Efficiency Studies in the Glass Processing Industry, determining Deep Sea Discharge Criteria project with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, TÜBİTAK 1001 project on the use and decomposition of plastics in agriculture, Ministry of Industry and European Union Circular Economy and Sustainable Industries project, UNDP Zero Waste Cities Establishment project, European Union Strengthening of Industries project, and others.

She served as the Chair of the Environmental Engineering Department from 2012 to 2015 and as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in 2016. Since 2016, she has held positions such as Zero Waste Coordinator, Green University, Index Commission Chair, and Director of the Center for Environmental Issues and Research.

In the field of environmental education, she actively participated in projects such as "Environment and Children" with the Ministry of National Education, "Education of Ecosystem Awareness Program" with the European Union Project-TÜBİTAK, and "Outdoor Environmental Education" with TÜBİTAK. She has undertaken roles in projects related to Sustainable Transportation with the European Union-Ministry of National Education. She has organized workshops and congresses on Climate Change and Green Deal and has published books titled "Climate Change and Green Deal" (editor) and "Solid Waste Management" (chapter). She has served on organizing committees for numerous conferences and editorial duties for domestic and international journals. She has a significant number of national and international publications, presentations, book chapters, and studies in the field of Environmental Engineering. She is a mother of two children.
