SKABİYES; KLİNİK BULGULAR, TANI VE TEDAVİ

Year 2020, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 80 - 87, 27.06.2020

Abstract

SCABIES; CLINICAL FINDINGS, DIAGNOSIS, AND TREATMENT

Year 2020, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 80 - 87, 27.06.2020

Abstract

Scabies is an ectoparasitosis caused by Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis that can affect all people regardless of sex, age and race. Although the data of epidemiological surveys are insufficient, it is known that prevalence is increased in the recent years in our country as well as the other countries. Typical anamnesis and pathognomonic skin findings are the mainstay of clinical diagnosis, but it can have different clinical manifestations especially in children and immunocompromised adults. When the diagnosis is delayed or the treatment is ineffective or inadequate, mass outbreaks can occur especially in places where people live together. We prepared this review with the aim to remind readers clinical findings, diagnostic methods and treatment options of scabies in the light of current studies.
