A Process Quality Improvement Case Study By Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 Integration

Year 2020, Volume: 8 Issue: 5, 1497 - 1504, 14.10.2020

Abstract

In the process of problem-solving manufacturing companies try to model the process on statistical tools and software by using data collected from the shop floor, and to understand how the process will behave through the model. One of the issues that compel manufacturers and prevent them from getting the results they want in process improvement works is the inability to collect enough, timely and reliable data for modeling from the field. In many enterprises, sampling methods are preferred in data collection because the data collection process is human-dependent and costly. However, due to the data obtained by sampling method it is not always possible to establish an accurate model, and because the analysis of the model is dependent on human labor, the interpretation of process analyses can take a long time. In today's conditions, where the variability is so high, it seems unlikely that process stability can be achieved without technology. In this study, a high-waste process of a company operating in the aluminum sector was examined with a Lean Six sigma perspective; solutions were developed, tried and results were evaluated by using some of the Industry 4.0 technologies to ensure process stability.

Yalın Altı Sigma ve Endüstri 4.0 Entegrasyonu ile Kalite İyileştirme Vaka Çalışması

Year 2020, Volume: 8 Issue: 5, 1497 - 1504, 14.10.2020
