HERZ MEKTUBUNUN YORUMLANIŞI ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME

Abstract

Kant’ın eski öğrencisi Marcus Herz’e yazdığı mektup, “Saf Aklın Eleştirisi”nin ilk planını ipucu olarak veya Eleştiri’nin en önemli kısmı olan kategorilerin dedüksiyonu bölümüne dair kaynak olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Çünkü Kant’ın burada ifade ettiği “Bizde tasarım olarak adlandırılanın nesneyle olan ilişkisi hangi zemine dayanmaktadır?” sorusu kendisiyle beraber “insan anlığının a priori olarak kavramlar oluşturmasını ve aynı kavramların nesnelerle uygunluk içinde olması gerektiği” problemini getirmiştir. Bu ise Kant’ı “Duyulur ve Anlaşılır Dünyanın Formları ve İlkeleri” eserindeki duyusallığın ve anlığın paralel birbirinden bağımsız bir şekilde kognitif işleyiş şeklini sürdüğü çözümü sorgulamaya itmiştir. Böylece, Kant’ın karşılaştığı açmaz onu farklı –eleştirel istikamete yöneltmiştir. Herz Mektubu genel olarak yorumcular tarafından Kant’ın eleştiri dönemi ile ilişkilendirilmesine rağmen, farklı yaklaşımlar mektubun Kant’ın entelektüel gelişimindeki yeri konusunda detaylı bir incelemenin gerekliliğini gösterir. Bunlardan ilki ileriye yönelik, diğeri ise geriye dönük değerlendirilme biçimi iken üçüncü ve sonuncusu ise ikisi arasında bir uzlaşının ifadesi olarak ya da iki okumaya alternatif olarak düşünülebilecek yorumlama biçimidir. Bu minvalde makale de bilhassa Carl’ın radikal ileriye yönelik ve Beck’in radikal geriye yönelik okuma şekillerine odaklanılacak, ardından Allison’un bir nevi üçüncü yol diye nitelendirilebilecek geriye yönelik okumayı ihmal etmeyen ancak Kant’ın eleştiri dönemini daha fazla gözeten ileriye yönelik okuma şekline değinilecektir.

AN ANALYSIS ON THE INTERPRETATION OF THE HERZ LETTER

Abstract

Kant's letter to his former student Marcus Herz is considered to be the source of the first clue to the first plan of the "Critique of Pure Reason" and the first clue to the most important part of the Critique, namely the deduction of categories. The question “What is the ground of the relation of that in us which we call “representation” to the object?”, which Kant expressed in his letter to Herz, brought with it “the problem of the conformity between a priori concepts that have the origin in the human understanding and the objects which belong to the sensible world”. This led Kant to question the solution in his work "Forms and Principles of the Sensible and Intelligible World", in which sensibility and understanding is defined by Kant as the cognitive faculties that function independently from each other in a parallel way. Thus, the dilemma that Kant faced led him in a different - critical direction. Although the Herz Letter is generally associated by commentators with Kant's critical period, different interpretative approaches require a detailed examination of its place in Kant's intellectual development. The first of these is a forward-looking and the second is a backward-looking reading, while the third and last is a form of interpretation that can be considered as an expression of a compromise between the two or as an alternative to the two readings. In this respect, the article will focus especially on Carl's radical forward-looking reading and Beck's radical backward-looking reading, and then Allison's alternative reading, which can be described as a kind of third way, which does not pass over backward-looking reading but rather takes into account Kant's critical period.
