The Mediating Role of Life Satisfaction in The Effect of Social Media Addiction: A Research on Vocational School Students

Year 2024, Volume: 15 Issue: 1, 1 - 18, 31.01.2024

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the mediating effect of life satisfaction on the effect of loneliness on social media addiction. The population of the research consists of 465 students of a vocational school affiliated to a state university in Bandırma, Balıkesir. The sample of the research consists of 260 young individuals selected from the vocational school students of this state university. The collected data were subjected to frequency, reliability, normality test, exploratory factor, correlation and hierarchical regression analysis. As a result of the hierarchical regression analysis conducted within the scope of the research, it was determined that life satisfaction had a full mediator effect on the effect of loneliness on social media addiction. As a result of the correlation analysis, it was determined that there was a negative and significant relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction, a negative and significant relationship between loneliness and social media addiction, a negative, significant relationship between life satisfaction and social media addiction. It is thought that the research will contribute to filling this gap in the literature, since there is no study that deals with the mediating effect of life satisfaction on the effect of loneliness on social media addiction.

Yalnızlığın Sosyal Medya Bağımlılığı Üzerindeki Etkisinde Yaşam Doyumunun Aracılık Rolü: Meslek Yüksekokulu Öğrencileri Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Year 2024, Volume: 15 Issue: 1, 1 - 18, 31.01.2024
