Medyan ve Aralık Olarak Raporlanan Çalışmaların Meta-analizi: Erken Evre Meme Kanserinde Cerrahi Yöntem Tercihinde Yaş Faktörünün İncelenmesi

Abstract

Meta-analysis of Median and Range Reported Studies: Examination of Age Factor in the preference of Surgical Method in Early Stage Breast Cancer

Year 2018, Volume: 8 Issue: 2, 175 - 184, 31.07.2018

Abstract

To perform meta-analysis of continuous data,
meta-analyses need the mean and the standart deviation. In this paper, the
conversion methods that improved to estimate the mean and the standart
deviation from published studies that report median, range and sample size were
discussed. The impact of age on preferring the most used surgery type for early
stage breast cancer patients was analyzed. Using the conversion methods, the
number of studies included in the meta-analysis was increased from 9 to 17 and
the sample volume was increased to obtain more efficient meta-analysis. As a
result of the analysis, it was concluded that the age factor was not
significant in the choice of treatment.
