Abstract

İnsanlar, giyim-kuşamı ve kullandığı süslenme malzemeleriyle hoş bir görüntüde olmak isterler. Her toplumun, kendine has süslenme unsurları ve güzellik algısı birbirinden farklı olsa da başkalarına hoş görünme duygusu ortak bir unsur olarak süregelmiştir. Hz. Peygamber devrinde de kadınlar, dönemin imkânları dâhilinde süslenerek kendilerini bakımlı ve güzel hissetmek istemişlerdir. İlgili dönemde süslenmenin mâhiyeti ise bir merak konusu olmuştur. Fatımatüz Zehra Kamacı’nın kaleme aldığı “Hz. Peygamber Devrinde Kadınların Süslenmesi” isimli akademik çalışma, o dönemdeki süslenme unsurlarını ve toplumun güzellik algısını analiz etmiştir. Yazar, süslenme temasını merkeze alarak süslenirken kullanılan malzemeleri, kadınların yaptıkları saç modellerini, yüze-vücuda yapılan bakımları, tercih edilen elbiseleri, takı çeşitlerini, süslenmeye konu olan malzemelerin ticaretteki yerini ve süslenmeyle ilgili meslekleri detaylı bir şekilde açıklamıştır. Buna mukabil Cahiliye dönemindeki süslenme şekillerine de temas etmiş böylelikle İslam’ın, süslenme konusuna getirdiği yaklaşımı mukayese etme olanağı sağlamıştır. Diğer yandan kitapta sosyal hayata dair yer alan ayrıntılar, kadınların süslenmesi özelinde Arap toplum yapısını ve kültürel özelliklerini tahayyül etme imkanını vermektedir. Bu çalışmada, Hz. Peygamber döneminde kadınların süslenmesinin neye tekabül ettiğine dair yeni bir açılım sağlanmasını amaçlayan kitabın, birçok açıdan incelemesi yapılmıştır. Değerlendirme içinde araştırmada kullanılan kaynaklara dikkat çekilmiştir. İlaveten yazarın üzerinde durduğu meseleler, konuya yaklaşımı, tespit ettiği hususlar, konu bağlamında ortaya koyduğu yorumlar, dil ve üslup özellikleri incelenmiştir.

Abstract

People want to be in a pleasant appearance with their clothing and adornment materials. Although each society has its own elements of adornment and perception of beauty, the feeling of looking nice to others has continued as a common element. In the reign of the prophet Muhammad, women wanted to feel well-groomed and beautiful by adorning themselves with possibilities of the period. In the relevant period, the nature of adornment was a matter of curiosity. Written by Fatimatuz Zahra Kamacı's academic study "Women's Beauty Treatments in the Reign of the Prophet Muhammad” analyzed the elements of adornment and the society's perception of beauty in that period. Focusing on the theme of adornment, the author explains in detail the materials used while adorning, the hairstyles that women do, the care given to the face and body, the preferred clothes, types of jewelry, the place of ornamental materials in trade and the professions related to adornment. In contrast the this, she touched upon the forms of adornment in the era of pre-Islamic (jahiliyyah), thus providing the opportunity to compare Islam's approach to the issue of adornment. On the other hand the details of social life in the book allow us to imagine the structure and cultural characteristics of Arab society with a special focus on the adornment of women. In this study, the book, which aims to provide a new perspective on what women's adornment corresponded to in the reign of the Prophet Muhammad, has been analysed from many aspects. In the evaluation, attention was drawn to the resources used in the research. In addition, the issues that the author emphasizes, her approach to the subject, the issues she identified, the comments, she put forward in the context of the subject, the language and style features of author’s were examined.
