Aim: Pregnancy is an important psyhcosocial process and emotional event in woman’s life. In addition to medical evaluations, the preferences of the woman, her family or relatives are important in deciding delivery method. The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting the delivery methods of women who were registered to Kozlu central and Acılık Family Health Center and who gave birth until 19 february 2018 one year ago. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 210 women who were registered in two Family Health Centers (ASM) in Zonguldak and delivered within the last year of the research. Chi-square test, Student’s T test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to evaluate the data collected by a questionnairre formed by the researchers, p<0,005 was considered significant. Results: The last delivery method of the participants was caesarean section in 69,5% and vaginal birth in 30,5%. 65,7% of those who delivered by caesarean section reported that they had delivered by caesarean due to medical necessity. The mean age of women who had caesarean births were significantly higher than others. The frequency of caesarean delivery was significantly lower in village residents compared to those living in the city. Also, the frequency of caesarean delivery was significantly lower in those who controlled and delivered in a state hospital compared to those in a university or private hospital. Women stated that the preference of delivery method was influenced by the physician and the previus delivery method. Conclusion: In this study, it was found that age, place of residence, physician’s effect, previous delivery method, place of health check-up during pragnancy and delivery center were effective in women’s preferences of delivery method.
Amaç: Kadının yaşamında önemli bir psikososyal süreç ve emosyonel olay olan gebeliğin hangi yöntemle sonuçlandırılacağına karar vermede, tıbbi değerlendirmelerin yanında kadının, ailesinin ya da çevresinin tercihleri de önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Kozlu Merkez ve Acılık Aile Sağlığı Merkezlerine kayıtlı ve 19 Şubat 2018 tarihinden bir yıl öncesine kadar doğum yapmış kadınların doğum yöntemlerini belirlemek ve etkileyen faktörleri saptamaktır. Yöntem: Bu kesitsel çalışma Zonguldak’ta hizmet veren iki Aile Sağlığı Merkezi’nde (ASM) kayıtlı olan ve araştırma tarihinde önceki son bir yıl içinde doğum yapan 210 kadın ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan anket formu ile toplanan verilerin değerlendirilmesinde Ki-kare testi, iki ortalama arasındaki farkın önemlilik testi ve Mann-Whitney U testi kullanılmış, p<0,05 anlamlı kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılanların %69,5’inin son doğum yöntemi sezaryen, %30,5’inin normal doğumdur. Sezaryen doğum yapanların %65,7’si tıbbi zorunluluk nedeniyle sezaryen doğum yaptığını bildirmiştir. Son doğumlarında sezaryen doğum yapanların yaş ortalamaları normal doğum yapanlardan anlamlı yüksektir. Köyde yaşayanlarda şehir merkezinde yaşayanlara, izlemlerini ve doğumlarını devlet hastanesinde yapanlarda üniversite ve ya özel hastanede yapanlara göre sezaryen doğum sıklığı anlamlı düşüktür. Kadınlar doğum yöntemi tercihinde hekimin ve önceki doğum şeklinin etkisi olduğunu belirtmiştir. Sonuç: Bu çalışmada kadınların yaşının, yerleşim yerinin, hekim etkisinin, önceki doğum şeklinin, izlemlerin ve doğumun yapıldığı merkezin doğum yöntemi tercihinde farklılık yarattığı bulunmuştur.

MEU Journal of Health Sciences Assoc was began to the publishing process in 2008 under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Gönül Aslan, Editor-in-Chief, and affiliated to Mersin University Institute of Health Sciences. In March 2015, Prof. Dr. Caferi Tayyar Şaşmaz undertook the Editor-in Chief position and since then he has been in charge.
Publishing in three issues per year (April - August - December), it is a multisectoral refereed scientific journal. In addition to research articles, scientific articles such as reviews, case reports and letters to the editor are published in the journal. Our journal, which has been published via e-mail since its inception, has been published both online and in print. Following the Participation Agreement signed with TÜBİTAK-ULAKBİM Dergi Park in April 2015, it has started to accept and evaluate online publications.
