TÜRKİYE SİYASETİNDE BİR SİYASAL BEKA ARACI OLARAK 28 ŞUBAT

Abstract

FEBRUARY 28 AS A POLITICAL SURVIVAL CASE IN TURKISH POLITICS

Year 2021, Issue: 46, 85 - 100, 02.09.2021

Abstract

This study basically aims to explain how the military intervention of February 28 turned into a tool of political survival through the division of the National View movement and the establishment of the Justice and Development Party (AKP). While there are many studies in the literature regarding the National View period and the impact of February 28 on Turkish politics, no study especially on the impact of February 28 on the internal conflicts of the National View. The clash between Reformists (Yenilikçiler) and Traditionalists (Gelenekçiler) that emerged within the National View after the military intervention on February 28 included the reaction and criticism of the Yenilikçiler towards the Gelenekçiler. The policies followed by Erbakan and his colleagues during the February 28 period were the main criticisms. In this direction, the AKP, which will be established by Yenilikçiler, has made February 28 an important tool in order to strengthen its political survival by drawing lessons from this process.
