Scopus Veri Tabanında Metaverse ve Eğitim Alanında Yapılan Bilimsel Çalışmalar: Bibliyometrik Bir İnceleme

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Scopus veri tabanı üzerinde 2008-2023 yılları arasında metaverse ve eğitim kavramlarını içeren uluslararası bilimsel çalışmaları bibliyometrik bir perspektifle incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında, başlık, özet ve anahtar kelimeler içerisinde "metaverse" ve "eğitim" kavramlarını barındıran 709 uluslararası bilimsel çalışmanın bibliyometrik analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. VOSviewer aracılığı ile çalışmalara yönelik analizlerin görsel haritaları oluşturulmuştur. 2008-2023 yılları arasında Scopus veri tabanında yayınlanan uluslararası bilimsel çalışmaların sayısında belirgin bir artış gözlemlenmiş olup; özellikle 2022 ve 2023 yıllarında önemli bir yükseliş olduğu tespit edilmiştir. "Bilgisayar Bilimleri", "Sosyal Bilimler" ve "Mühendislik" gibi farklı alan çalışmalarına ait akademik disiplinlerin, metaverse ve eğitim konularında yoğun bir şekilde araştırma yapılan alanlar olarak öne çıktığı görülmüştür. "Metaverse" kelimesi, bibliyometrik analizde en çok görüntülenen anahtar kelime olarak belirlenmiştir. "Virtual Reality", "Augmented Reality" ve "Education" gibi anahtar kelimeler, metaverse ve eğitim konularında yoğun bir şekilde birbirleriyle ilişkilendirilmiştir. Çalışmalar arasında en çok atıf alan eserler, Dwidedi (2022), Kye (2021), Hwang (2022) ve Tlili (2022) olarak tespit edilmiştir. Çin, en yüksek çalışma sayısına sahip olan ülke iken, bilimsel araştırmalarda en fazla atıf alan ülkenin Güney Kore olduğu görülmüştür. Güney Kore’yi ikinci sırada Çin’in, üçüncü sırada ise Amerika’nın takip ettiği gözlemlenmiştir.

Scientific Studies in the Field of Metaverse and Education in Scopus Database: A Bibliometric Review

Abstract

This study aims to examine international scientific studies including metaverse and education concepts from a bibliometric perspective on the Scopus database between 2008 and 2023. A bibliometric analysis was conducted on 709 international scientific studies that had the terms "metaverse" and "education" in their titles, abstracts, and keywords. VOSviewer was used to generate visual maps illustrating the analyses conducted in the research. There has been a significant increase in the quantity of international scientific research published in the Scopus database from 2008 to 2023. Particularly, a substantial increase has been identified in the years 2022 and 2023. The academic disciplines of "Computer Sciences", "Social Sciences", and "Engineering" have been identified as areas where there is much research on the interaction between metaverse and education. In the bibliometric investigation, the term "Metaverse" was determined to be the most frequently accessed keyword. The terms "Virtual Reality", "Augmented Reality", and "Education" are closely interconnected in discussions related to the metaverse and educational subjects. The studies with the highest number of citations were identified as Dwivedi (2022), Kye (2021), Hwang (2022), and Tlili (2022). China has the biggest amount of international scientific studies, whereas South Korea has the most citations in studies. South Korea has been seen to be followed by China in the second position, with America in the third position.
