Çalışan Kadının Çocuk Bakım Tercihi: Havuzlanmış Verilerle Kesikli Tercih Modellerinin Karşılaştırılması

Az
gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkelerde kadının işgücüne katılımının düşük olması
önemli bir sorun olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Kadını işgücü dışına iten en
önemli faktörlerden birisi küçük çocuk sahibi olmasıdır. Küçük çocuğu olan
kadının işgücüne dahil olabilmesi için ya çalışma saatleri esnek ve düşük
olacaktır ya da bir başkasından çocuk bakımı konusunda yardım alması
gerekecektir. Çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de 5 yaş ve altı çocuk sahibi çalışan
kadınların çocuk bakım tercihlerinde etkili olan etmenleri belirlemektir. Çalışmada
Hacettepe Üniversitesi Nüfus Etütleri Enstitüsü tarafından her beş yılda bir
yapılan 1993, 1998, 2003 ve 2008 yıllarında gerçekleştiren Türkiye Nüfus ve
Sağlık Araştırması veri setleri kullanılmıştır. Söz konusu yıllara ilişkin veri
setleri birleştirilerek havuzlanmış veriler elde edilmiş ve Türkiye’de çalışan
kadının zaman içinde çocuk bakım tercihinde meydan gelen değişimler
incelenmiştir. Çalışmada ekonometrik yöntem olarak Multinomial Logit ve
Multinomial Probit modeller kullanılmıştır.
