The aim of the research is to examine the effect of -Calculus III course on prospective elementary mathematics teachers’ associating pattern -with sequences/series. The research, designed by following the qualitative paradigm, is an internal case study. The participants of the study consisted of 39 prospective elementary mathematics teachers -. Training that lasted for 12 weeks on designing the problem of establishing the connection between series /sequences andthe pattern was given in -Calculus III Course. -Prospective teachers were asked to design a problem in this direction before and after the training. It was revealed that the -prospective teachers have difficulty in associating pre-training problems in the problem situations they designed for the topic which is covered in the seventh grade, but they couldassociate them after the training. After the training, they achieved a serious success in writing the general rule. -Prospective teachers have indicated that –progressive teaching based on problem design helps themenlighten the theoretical and abstract points in the -Calculus III course.
