Devran Kaya, born in Ortaköy/Nicosia in 1990, is the middle of three daughters of a Cypriot family. After graduating from primary school in Lefke Istiklal Primary School, he passed the college entrance exam and went to Güzelyurt Turkish Maarif College for secondary and high school education and graduated from there. She came to Izmir, Türkiye for university in 2009 and successfully graduated from Izmir Dokuz Eylul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of History in 2013. In the same year, she started her master's degree in the field of History at Dokuz Eylül University Social Sciences Institute and successfully completed her master's degree in 2016. She started her doctorate education at Dokuz Eylül University Atatürk Principles and Revolution History Institute in 2017 and successfully completed her master's degree. As soon as she graduated, she started teaching English as well as history teaching in a private teaching institution. Then, in 2019, she started her doctorate education at Dokuz Eylül University Atatürk Principles and Revolution History Institute. she took courses in the fields of recent history of Turkey and the history of the Republic from esteemed academicians, successfully completed the doctoral proficiency exam, and was entitled to write a thesis. After exchanging ideas, she determined the subject of the thesis as "Journalist İsmet Kotak in the Struggle for Existence of the Turkish Cypriots" and successfully completed her doctoral education in 2022.
Prior to her academic career, she had the chance to work for TRNC Presidency Committee on missing Persons in Cyprus as an investigator and a deputy coordinator. After completing her Ph.D. degree in history, she pursued her career in academia and have thought variety of political history courses over the past 2 years. she has participated in many national and international symposiums both as a listener and as a speaker and presented many papers.
