It has been argued that knowledge sources have an impact on identifying, exploiting entrepreneurial opportunities and creating a competitive advantage. However, research on whether various knowledge sources and voluntary organization membership affect entrepreneurial tendency is limited. The aim of the present research is to examine the relations between an individual’s interaction with environment and entrepreneurship tendency. In this regard in this study, the impacts of various knowledge sources and voluntary organizational membership on entrepreneurship are examined. This study is based on the individual level survey data collected from different countries by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development between the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016. The number of observations for Turkey is 1500. The results of the empirical analysis demonstrate that knowledge sources have negative impact on entrepreneurship tendency and organizational membership has no impact on such tendency. However, social media, radio and television reports have favorable effects on entrepreneurship. This study contributes to the entrepreneurship literature by examining the impact of various knowledge sources, its dimensions and organizational membership in an emerging economy.
