In recent years, the development of pressure injury due to medical devices continues to pose a significant burden for both patients and healthcare professionals. Medical devices can cause pressure ınjury that can occur in patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. Health care providers; play an important role in the detection, prevention, risk assessment and improvement of pressure injury of inpatients in the hospital. Pressure injury due to medical devices is an undesirable condition caused by the treatment of the sick individual. As it is understood from here, the pressure injury caused by the medical device can also be considered as a healthcare complication. It is very important to carry out a good risk assessment to avoid pressure injury due to the medical device. Nurses responsible for the care and continuous follow-up of the patient should be able to measure the risk of pressure ınjury in patients undergoing long-term medical devices and evaluate them by taking a holistic approach to the pressure exerted by the medical device.
This review has been prepared to draw attention to the issue by considering that there are not enough studies on the identification and prevention of risk factors that may cause the development of pressure ınjury due to medical devices, and that it will provide a comprehensive analysis to nurses in the care of patients who develop pressure ınjury due to medical devices.
