The Gokturk State is first Turkish state which used “Turk” name. The Gokturks dominated the Western part (552709) with the Istemi Khagan rule (552-576). The artistic activities of this period in Transoxiana were scantly examined and both Western historians and art historians did not name as Turk. In this article, the mural paintings of Varakhsha Palace will be examined. Varakhsha, which was a part of Transoxiana region, is an archeological site in Bukhara. This region was dominated by the Western Gokturks between the 6th and 8th centuries. At the end of this examination, it aims to categorize the mural paintings of Vararkhsha palace according to their subjects and to find the evidence of Turkic culture and finally to evaluate the paintings.
