In this study, gama dose rate measurements were made at 15 different points in Malatya. Measurements were taken at each point both on the ground and at a height of 1 m above the ground. Gamma dose rate measurements were made using a portable scintillation counter with a NaI (Tl) crystal. In addition to gamma dose rates (DR), annual effective dose rates (YEDO) and lifetime cancer risk (ÖBKR) values were also calculated. The mean values obtained for DR, YEDO and ÖBKR at 1 m above the ground were calculated as 48.47 nGy/h, 58.18 µSv/y and 0.2110-3, respectively. The results presented in this study were compared with the results of similar studies conducted in different regions of Turkey and the world average values given by UNSCEAR.
