Öz

In the work titled Mihna the Ordeal of the Sufis With Cruelty, Himmet Konur discusses the Sufis who were subjected to persecution (mihna) because of what they thought and said in III and IV centuries.The author claims that the Sufis were subjected to persecution at least as much as the Mu'tazila and the Ahl al-Hadith. The work consists of an introduction and two main chapters with this basic assertion. In the introduction of the work, the author explains the background and the related concepts to the reader. In the first part of the work, he makes clear why Sufis were subjected to persecution and provides examples of Sufis who were tortured and executed. In the second part of the work he analyzes the profound psychological and sociological consequences of the repression against the Sufi groups. It also provides examples of how persecuted Sufis changed their religious and mystical approaches. In brief, Konur provides an opportunity for those who would like to make a comprehensive and holistic reading of the oppression against Sufis.

Himmet Konur, Mihne Sûfîlerin Zulümle İmtihanı adlı eserinde hicri III. ve IV. asırlarda düşündükleri ve söyledikleri yüzünden devrin güç sahipleri tarafından mihneye maruz bırakılan sûfîleri inceler. Konur, eserinde sûfîlerin de en az Mu’tezile ve Ehl-i Hadis kadar mihneyle karşılaştıklarını iddia eder. Eser bu temel iddiayla bir giriş ve iki ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Müellif, eserin giriş bölümünde okuyucusunu mihneyle ve ilintili olan kavramlarla tanıştırır. Birinci bölümde ise sûfîlerin mihneye maruz bırakılma sebeplerini açıklar ve bu uğurda işkence gören hatta idam edilen sufilerden örnekler sunar. Çalışmanın ikinci kısmında ise müellif mihnenin doğurduğu psikolojik ve sosyolojik sonuçlar üzerinde durur. Bu bağlamda mihnelere maruz bırakılan sûfîlerin dinî ve tasavvufi konulardaki yaklaşımlarının nasıl değiştiğine detaylıca değinilmektedir. Konur, bu çalışmasında mihne kavramı hakkında kapsamlı ve bütüncül bir okuma yapmak isteyenlere bunun imkanını sunmaktadır.
