A STUDY ON HUMOR TRANSLATION IN TURKISH DEAF CULTURE

Öz

The aim of the study is the discusses the sense of humour and Deaf experience jokes of within the Turkish Deaf Community in the context of sign language interpreting within the framework of Deaf studies and Turkish Sign Language. The study focusses on the raises awareness about the sense of humour of the Deaf community and Deaf culture for contributed to translation strategies and methods in humour translation in the course of sign language and interpreting in the MLA programmes in Turkey’s higher education ecosystems. The study has been divided into three interrelated parts. After introduction, in the first part, the general characteristics of sign languages was being discussed, in the second part and the following parts deals with humour theories and the Deaf humour and Deaf experience jokes in the Turkish Deaf community. In the present article the datas’ are examined based on existing data. In the third part, the interpreting of Deaf humour and jokes in the Deaf community is discussed in the context of translation strategies, approaches and interpreter decisions by grouping them according to humour theories in line with the data compiled. As a result, this study aims to provide a corpus of course content in sign language interpreting studies in the context of Deaf humour and Deaf experience jokes

TÜRK SAĞIR KÜLTÜRÜNDE MİZAH ÇEVİRİSİ ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME

Öz

Bu çalışmada kendilerine ait, zengin kültürel verimleri olan Türk Sağır Toplumunun mizah anlayışı ve komik anlatıları, Sağır çalışmaları ve Türk İşaret Dili çevirisi bağlamında ele alınmıştır. Çalışma, ülkemizde TİD, Sağır çalışma ve araştırmalarını desteklemek, katkı sunmak adına açılan tezli ve tezsiz yüksek lisans programlarında, işaret dili çevirisi derslerinde Sağır kültürü ve Sağır toplumun mizah unsurlarına yönelik bir farkındalık yaratmayı ve işaret dili çevirisinde mizahi unsurların aktarımında çeviri kararları ve stratejileri üzerine odaklanmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma dört ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde işaret dillerinin genel özellikleri ele alınmış, ikinci bölümde genel mizah kuramlarına değinilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde Sağır mizahı bu alanda yapılan temel araştırmalar çerçevesinde Sağır kültürü odağında irdelenmiştir. Son bölümde ise Türk Sağır toplumunda mizahi unsurlar ile komik anlatıların özellikleri Sağır bireylerin kendilerine ait Instagram hesaplarından, YouTube kanallarından, Sağır dernek ve federasyon gibi topluluklarda gözlemlenen verilerden hareketle somut verilere dayandırılarak açıklanmış ve gruplandırılmıştır. Bu veriler, işaret dili çevirisi bağlamında çevirmen stratejileri, kararları ve yaklaşımları odağında ele alınmıştır. Sonuç olarak bu çalışmada, Sağır mizahı konusuna odaklanılarak işaret dili, çeviribilim ve Sağır kültürü çalışmalarına katkı sağlamak amaçlanırken, günümüzde giderek sayıları artan işaret dili çevirisi ve araştırmaları programlarında mizah çevirisine yönelik ders içeriği, strateji ve uygulamaları çerçevesinde bir veri sunulmaya çalışılmıştır.
