According to the 2013 World Happiness Report, Turkey is in
77th place with a score of 5.345 among 156 countries, while overall happiness
rate is 5.158. Due to Turkey’s place in the happiness ratings, measurement of
subjective well-being gains importance for scientists and policy makers. For
this purpose, this study investigates the relationship between life
satisfaction and satisfaction in domains of life. This investigation has
information about person’s satisfaction in five life domains which are finance,
job, self, leisure activities and social relations. Thus, the study attempts to
develop an ordinal logistic regression model to identify not only the relation
between life satisfaction and satisfaction in domains of life but also relationship
between overall life satisfaction and socio-economic variables using the data
Turkey Income and Living Conditions Survey 2013. The estimation results
indicate that finance domain affects positively subjective well-being more than
any other domains. The coefficient of relative income is found significant in
all domain specific estimations. Also, age and subjective well-being relation
follows an inverted-U shape pattern with a peak around 42 years.
