The 2014 European Parliament Elections

Abstract

Since 1979, elections for the European Parliament which have held every five years are very important in terms of formation of a European Union institution that is elected and effect on European Union politics. European Parliament which will work until 2019 is comprised in the elections which were held on 22-25 May 2014. 2014 European elections are agreed as an important election on the grounds that first election both its effect on election of European Commission President and in the process of debt crisis. In this context, firstly, turnout dimension of 2014 elections is dealt with. In next chapter, election results are examined in detail. Finally, situation of eurosceptic parties/groups which come to the forefront in elections is shown. It is emphasized that distinct results of elections are low turnout rate and rise of eurosceptic votes

2014 Avrupa Parlamentosu Seçimleri

Abstract

1979’dan beri her beş yılda bir yapılan Avrupa Parlamentosu seçimleri, seçilmiş bir Avrupa Birliği kurumunun oluşması ve Avrupa Birliği siyasetine etkisi bakımından çok önemlidir. 2019’a kadar görevde kalacak olan Avrupa Parlamentosu, 22-25 Mayıs 2014 tarihinde yapılan seçimlerde oluşmuştur. 2014 Avrupa Parlamentosu seçimleri hem Avrupa Komisyonu Başkanı’nın seçimine etkisi hem de borç krizi sürecinde yapılan ilk seçim olması nedeniyle önemli bir seçim olarak kabul edilmiştir. Bu kapsamda çalışmada öncelikle, 2014 seçimlerinin katılım boyutu ele alınmıştır. Sonraki bölümde, seçim sonuçları detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. Son olarak, seçimlerde öne çıkan euroseptik partilerin/grupların durumu gösterilmiştir. Seçimlerin belirgin sonuçları olarak düşük katılım oranı ve euroseptik oyların artışı vurgulanmıştır
