The EU and the US Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership: An Evaluation From Turkey’s Perspective

Year 2014, Volume: 13 Issue: 1, 1 - 29, 01.05.2014

Abstract

Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership TTIP negotiations initiated between the EU and the US go far from constituting a mere free trade area for the parties. It provides a platform where they endeavor to redesign global trade norms and rules. Taking part in this process seems to be vital for Turkey which has profound relationship with the transatlantic world. In this context, a possible ‘deep and comprehensive’ trade agreement to develop partnership with the US can be instrumental for Turkey to adopt itself to the coming global trade agenda. After the Customs Union with the EU, the TTIP shall be a new challenging process for Turkey to transform its economy and to integrate itself into global environment. Turkey’s approach to the TTIP shall be decisive in order to achieve stability in its relations with the West and to refrain from new quests in different geographies

AB-ABD Transatlantik Ticaret ve Yatırım Ortaklığı: Türkiye Açısından Bir Değerlendirme

Year 2014, Volume: 13 Issue: 1, 1 - 29, 01.05.2014
