Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

The processes of article acceptance and publication implemented by the Journal of Forensic Sciences and Crime Studies (JFSCS) are based on ensuring the development and dissemination of knowledge in an impartial and respected manner. These processes directly reflect the quality of the authors' work and the institutions supporting them. Peer-reviewed studies embody and support the scientific method. At this point, it is crucial that all stakeholders (authors, readers, researchers, publishers, referees, and editors) adhere to ethical standards.

The Journal of Forensic Sciences and Crime Studies expects all its stakeholders to fulfill the following ethical responsibilities. The ethical duties and responsibilities outlined below have been prepared considering the open access guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors' Ethical Responsibilities

Authors submitting articles to the Journal of Forensic Sciences and Crime Studies (JFSCS) are expected to adhere to the following ethical responsibilities:

* Authors must ensure that their submissions are original and that, if they use or refer to other works, they provide complete and accurate citations and references.
* Any potential conflicts of interest or relationships that might constitute conflicts of interest should be disclosed in all submissions intended for publication.
* Authors may be asked to provide raw data related to their articles during the review process. In such cases, they must be prepared to submit the necessary data and information to the editorial board and the scientific committee.
* Authors must ensure that they have the rights to use the data, have obtained the necessary permissions related to research/analyses, or possess documentation of the permission procedures for subjects used in experiments.
* If authors detect an error or mistake in a published, early view, or under-review study, they are obliged to notify the journal editor or publisher, collaborate with the editor for correction or retraction.
* Authors may not submit their work to multiple journals concurrently. Each submission process must begin after the completion of the previous one. A study published in another journal cannot be submitted to the Journal of Forensic Sciences and Crime Studies (JFSCS).
* Changes in the authorship responsibilities of a paper under review (such as adding or removing authors, changing the author order) cannot be proposed.

The editors and field editors of the Journal of Forensic Sciences and Crime Studies (JFSCS) must adhere to the following ethical duties and responsibilities based on the “COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” and the “COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors,” which are published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access:
