ISTANBUL AND THE TRANSFORMATION OF ŞEHRENGIZ WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE COLLOQUY WHICH WAS PUBLISHED IN “LETÂİF-İ ÂSÂR

Abstract

Situation of İstanbul in the 1870s can be learned from newspaper articles of that area. Especially humour newspapers, which were published at that time, gave us information about daily habits and life styles of townspeople. Letâif-i Âsâr, which was the first humour newspaper in the Ottoman Empire, contained a lot of articles about İstanbul and its neighborhoods. The Colloquy, which was published in Letâif-i Âsâr, on 12nd of April 1871, shows the transformation of Şehrengiz, which is a significant genre of Divan Literature. The Colloquy also gives crucial information about social and cultural situation of İstanbul at that time. Firstly we are going to research the transformation of Şehrengiz within the scope of the Colloquy. Secondly we are going to research how İstanbul and its neighborhoods take place in the colloquy.

LETÂİF-İ ÂSÂR”DA YAYIMLANAN BİR MUHÂVERE IŞIĞINDA ŞEHRENGİZİN DÖNÜŞÜMÜ VE İSTANBUL

Abstract

1870li yıllardaki İstanbulun durumu o dönemin gazetelerinden öğrenilebilir..Özellikle, bu yıllarda yayımlanan mizah gazeteleri, şehir insanının günlük alışkanlıkları ve yaşam tarzları hakkında bize önemli bilgiler sunar. Osmanlıda çıkan ilk mizah gazetesi olan Letâif-i Âsâr, İstanbul şehri ve semtleri konusunda birçok yazı içerir. Bu gazetede 12 Nisan 1871 tarihinde yayımlanan bir muhâvere, Divan edebiyatının önemli bir türü olan şehrengizin yaşadığı dönüşümü gösterir.Bu muhavere ayrıca İstanbulun o zamanki kültürel ve sosyal durumu hakkında önemli bilgiler verir. Biz, öncelikle muhâvere ekseninde şehrengiz türünün geçirdiği değişimi araştıracağız.İkinci olarak da muhâverede İstanbul şehrinin ve semtlerinin nasıl yer aldığını inceleyeceğiz.
