Abstract

Are “War” and “Technology” concepts that affect each other? How much of the technologies we use today do we owe to the concept of war? How much has the existence of the concept of war contributed to the advancement of technology? Would American scientists have worked so hard on radar systems if there had been no nuclear threat in the Cold War? Wasn't the first goal of the invention of GPS, which has an important place in our lives, to increase the hit rate of missiles? Or vice versa, how much has the advancement of technology changed the concept of war? How did the invention of steam engines change the fate of war? How did the invention of communication tools such as the telegraph, radio and internet affect the nature of war? From the invention of iron to the invention of the internet, we can generate thousands of questions to reveal the context between the concepts of war and technology. Among these thousands of questions, the book "War and Technology" written by Jeremy Black offers us an approach in this context.
