Mısırlı Şair Ahmed Muharrem’in Şiirlerinde Birlik İdeali: Pan-İslamizm, Pan-Arabizm ve Ulus Devlet Milliyetçiliği Arasında
Abstract
Bu makale, Ahmed Muharrem’in siyasî şiirlerinde birlik idealinin çeşitli meşruiyet zeminleri üzerinden nasıl kurulduğunu ve özellikle Batı sömürgeciliği karşısında bu ideallerin nasıl ele alındığını incelemektedir. Çalışmanın temel amacı, Muharrem’in şiirlerini tek bir ideolojik etikete indirgemeden bu şiirlerdeki Osmanlı hilafeti etrafında şekillenen Pan-İslâmcı/Osmanlıcı söylem, Filistin meselesi etrafında şekillenen Pan-Arap–İslâmî birlik çağrısı ve Mısır merkezli ulus milliyetçiliği idealleri arasındaki süreklilik ve dönüşüm ilişkisini ortaya koymaktır. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemleri benimsenmiş; Ahmed Muharrem’in şiirleri metin analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiş ve şiirlerinde ortaya çıkan fikrî temalar tarihsel bağlam içerisinde değerlendirilmiştir. Seçme şiirler üzerinden ilgili söylemlere ait ümmet, izzet, meşruiyet, egemenlik, kolektif sorumluluk, öteki inşası gibi vurgular ele alınmaktadır. Bu bağlamda Muharrem’in Osmanlıcılığı ümmetin siyasî bütünlüğünü taşıyan merkezî bir çatı fikri olarak değerlendirdiği görülmektedir. Hilafetin ilgası ve Mısır’ın Osmanlı’dan kopuşu sürecinde birlik idealini Arap-İslâm birliği ideali üzerinden yeniden kurduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Mısır merkezli ulus milliyetçiliğini ise işgal karşıtlığı, halkın hakimiyet noktasında aktör haline gelmesi ve millî egemenlik vurgusu çerçevesinde ele aldığı tespit edilmiştir. Muharrem ile ilgili literatürde onun siyasî şiirleri çoğunlukla belli temalar, olaylar ya da eserler çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Buna karşılık, şairin Pan-İslâmizm/Osmanlıcılık, Pan-Arabizm/Arap birliği ve Mısır merkezli milliyetçilik arasında kurduğu ilişki bütüncül bir yaklaşımla yeterince ele alınmamıştır. Bu çalışma, söz konusu boşluğu Muharrem’in şiirlerindeki birlik idealinin değişen tarihsel konjonktürde yeniden nasıl inşa edildiğini göstererek doldurmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu çerçevede ça-lışmamız, Muharrem’in şiirlerinde ulus-devlet milliyetçiliği, Arap-İslam Birliği ve Osmanlıcılık arasında zorunlu bir çatışma bulunmadığını ortaya koymaktadır. Tüm bu ideallerin değişen tarihsel koşullarda farklı meşruiyet kaynakları üzerinden Batıya karşı yeniden kurulduğu anlaşılmaktadır.

The Ideal of Unity in the Poetry of the Egyptian Poet Ahmed Muharram: Between Pan-Islamism, Pan-Arabism, and Nation-State Nationalism
Abstract
This article examines how the ideal of unity is constructed in Ahmed Muharrem’s political poetry through various grounds of legitimacy, and how these ideals are addressed particularly in the face of Western colonialism. The main objective of the study is to reveal the relationship of continuity and transformation among the Pan-Islamist/Ottomanist discourse shaped around the Ottoman caliphate, the Pan-Arab–Islamic call for unity centered on the Palestinian question, and the ideals of Egypt-centered nationalism, without reducing Muharrem’s poetry to a single ideological label. In this study, qualitative research methods are adopted; Ahmed Muharrem’s poems are analyzed through textual analysis, and the intellectual themes emerging in his poetry are evaluated within their historical context. Through selected poems, key notions such as ummah, honor (ʿizza), legitimacy, sovereignty, collective responsibility, and the construction of the “other” are addressed. In this context, it is observed that Muharrem conceptualizes Ottomanism as a central overarching framework that embodies the political unity of the ummah. Following the abolition of the caliphate and Egypt’s separation from the Ottoman Empire, he appears to reconstruct the ideal of unity through the notion of Arab-Islamic unity. Egypt-centered nationalism, on the other hand, is addressed along the axes of anti-colonialism, the transformation of the people into active political agents, and the emphasis on national sovereignty. As will be discussed in detail in the introduction, the existing literature on Muharrem has generally approached his political poetry within the framework of specific themes, events, or individual works. However, the relationship he establishes among Pan-Islamism/Ottomanism, Pan-Arabism/Arab unity, and Egypt-centered nationalism has not been sufficiently examined through a holistic perspective. This study aims to fill this gap by demonstrating how the ideal of unity in Muharrem’s poetry is reconstructed under changing historical conditions. Within this framework, the study argues that there is no inherent conflict among nation-state nationalism, Arab-Islamic unity, and Ottomanism in Muharrem’s poetry. Rather, all these ideals are rearticulated against the West through different sources of legitimacy in response to shifting historical contexts.
