ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
The publication process of the Adıyaman Theology Journal is designed to promote the objective development and dissemination of knowledge. Thus, the processes applied are reflected in the quality of the authors’ works and the quality of the institutions supporting them. Reviewed articles embody and encourage the scientific method. Therefore, it is crucial that all parties involved in the publication process (authors, readers and researchers, publishers, reviewers, and editors) comply with ethical standards.

Adıyaman Theology Journal expects all stakeholders to adhere to the ethical responsibilities outlined below.

The ethical duties and responsibilities adopted by Adıyaman Theology Journal have been prepared based on the guidelines and policies of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Violations:
Plagiarism: Presenting another’s ideas, methods, data, practices, writings, figures, or works in whole or in part as one's own without proper scientific citation.

Fabrication: Producing data that does not exist, organizing or altering a submitted or published work based on false data, reporting or publishing such data, or presenting an unperformed research study as if it had been conducted.

Falsification: Manipulating research records and obtained data; presenting methods, devices, or materials that were not used in the research; excluding data that does not fit research hypotheses; manipulating data/results to fit relevant theories or assumptions; altering research outcomes to benefit supporting individuals or organizations.

Duplicate publication: Submitting multiple works with the same research results as separate publications during academic evaluations.

Salami slicing: Fragmenting the results of a research study inappropriately to publish multiple pieces without cross-referencing.

Unjust authorship: Including individuals who did not contribute significantly, excluding those who did, altering the author order without justification, removing contributors from later editions, or including influential individuals without active contribution.

Other ethical violations: Failing to disclose support and contributions in funded research; violating ethical rules in human and animal studies; disrespecting patient rights; misusing confidential information from peer-reviewed studies; misusing allocated research resources; making baseless and malicious allegations of ethical violations. (Based on YÖK Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive, Article 8)

Ethical Declaration

  • Research involving human or animal subjects must comply with ethical standards.
  • Compliance with copyright regulations for intellectual and artistic works must be ensured.
  • Permissions must be obtained for using third-party scales, questionnaires, photographs, etc., and clearly stated.
  • Case reports must indicate that an "Informed Consent Form" has been obtained.

If the study falls under the following categories, an "Ethics Committee Approval" must be attached:

Research Requiring Ethics Committee Approval:

  • Research collecting data from participants using surveys, interviews, focus groups, observation, experiments, or other qualitative/quantitative methods.
  • Experimental or other scientific use of humans and animals (including materials/data).
  • Clinical research involving humans.
  • Research involving animals.
  • Retrospective studies conducted under the Personal Data Protection Law.

Surveys and Interviews

Adıyaman Theology Journal adheres to COPE's "Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers" to establish ethical security in scientific periodical publishing.

Accordingly:

  • Ethics committee approval must be obtained, stated, and documented for research across all scientific fields requiring ethical permission.
  • Information regarding the ethical approval (committee name, date, and approval number) must be mentioned in the methodology section and/or on the first or last pages of the article.
  • In case reports, information indicating that informed consent was obtained must be included.

Authors' Responsibilities
Authorship: All individuals listed as authors must have contributed significantly to the research. Others should be cited as "contributors." The corresponding author must ensure the consent of all co-authors before submission. Those who did not contribute directly must not be listed as authors.

Originality and Accuracy: All data must be genuine and original. Authors should present an objective discussion based on accurate data. Intentional misrepresentation constitutes unethical behavior.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Authors must not submit the same research to multiple journals or attempt to republish previously published works, respecting research and publication ethics.

References: All sources used in the work must be properly cited.

Withdrawal of Articles: Authors may withdraw their submissions only during the preliminary control phase. After subsequent stages, withdrawal is not permitted.

Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must aim to conduct and report original research. Misuse of others’ works, including the author's own previous works, without proper citation is a major ethical breach. Submissions with detected plagiarism will be immediately withdrawn.

Double-Blind Peer Review: Since a double-blind review system is applied, no author information should be included in the manuscript file.

Reviewers' Responsibilities
Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Reviewers must adhere to "Reviewer Evaluation Criteria" and assist editors in making decisions and authors in improving their articles.

Timeliness: Reviewers who feel unqualified to review or unable to complete the review in a timely manner must inform the editors immediately.

Confidentiality: Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential.

Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively without personal criticism.

Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers must point out relevant published works not cited by the authors and notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap.
