Abstract
Mikroorganizmalar ve yan ürünleri pulpa ve periradiküler patolojide kritik rol oynar. Kanal tedavisinin temel amaçlarından biri kanal sisteminin dezenfekte edilmesidir. Bu amaçla mekanik temizlik yapılırken kimyasal irigasyon solüsyonları, çeşitli yıkama protokolleriyle kullanılmaktadır. Bu derlemede en yaygın kullanılan solüsyonlara ek olarak antioksidan kullanımı ele alınmıştır. Antioksidanların bilinen en önemli etkisi, serbest radikallerin zararlı etkilerini nötralize etmeleridir. Rutin olmasa da endodontide ve adeziv işlemlerde antioksidanların uygulanması yaygınlaşmaya başlamış ve bu ürünlerin etkin kullanımını belirlemek için çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. Bu derlemenin amacı antioksidanlar ve endodontideki potansiyel rolleri hakkında bilgi sunmaktadır.
