STOMATİTİS VENENATA: BİR VAKA RAPORU

Year 2023, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 107 - 112, 31.08.2023

Abstract

STOMATITIS VENENATA: A CASE REPORT

Year 2023, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 107 - 112, 31.08.2023

Abstract

Allergy is the body reacting differently as a result of repeated ingestion of foreign substances or infectious organisms. Drug-induced allergic inflammatory reactions in oral mucosal lesions are rare and non-specific. These reactions are dependent on local and/or systemic use. If this allergic reaction is caused by topical drugs, is called Stomatitis venenata, if it occurs as a result of systemic application, is called Stomatitis medicamentosa. Stomatitis medicamentosa is a less common oral lesion. Lesions are frequently seen on the gingiva, palate, lips and tongue. Changes in the oral mucosa as a result of allergies can be listed as erythema, edema, hyperplasia, vesicles and ulcers. These lesions resolve with discontinuation of the causative agent. However, in severe cases, antihistamines and steroids may have to be used. This article covers a case of Stomatitis venenata in a patient who presented with multiple oral ulcerations that started in the oral cavity the day before.
