Author Guidelines
1. Manuscript Language and Formatting Features
• Manuscripts are accepted in Turkish or English.
• Page layout: Margins of 2.5 cm must be set on all sides.
• Font: Times New Roman; 11 pt, 1.15 line spacing.
• Paragraphs must be justified, and spacing should be managed using the “Add space after paragraph” option in Word paragraph settings. Manual line breaks must not be used.
• Paragraph indentation (first-line indent) must not be applied.
• Line numbering: Line numbers must be added to all lines of the main text, except for the Abstract/Özet section.
• Abbreviations: When first mentioned in the main text, the full term must be provided, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses; thereafter, only the abbreviation should be used.
All text must be written in black.
In all headings, only the first letter of each word should be capitalized (except for ABSTRACT and ÖZET).
All headings in the full text and title page must be written in bold font. (In tables and figures, only the numbering part of the heading should be in bold font. (e.g., Table 3. Aaaaaaa))
2. File Submission Guidelines
• Under the “Full Text” heading, a single Word document containing the abstract, main text, references, tables, and figures must be uploaded to the system.
• Additionally, all components listed below must be uploaded separately under their respective headings:
o Title Page
o Full Text
o Figures and Tables
o Similarity Report
Ethics Approval/Informed Consent
o Copyright Form
o Conflict of Interest Form
o Author Contribution Form
• The name of each uploaded file must exactly match the selected file type in the system. (For example, if the file type is selected as “Full Text,” the file name must also be “Full Text.”)
When uploading the full-text file, please remove author information from the Word File > Info section.

3. Abstract and Keywords
• Each manuscript must include Turkish and English titles, as well as an abstract/özet in both languages.
• Abstracts must not exceed 250 words.
• In original research articles, the abstract section must include the following headings:
o Turkish: Amaç, Gereç ve Yöntemler, Bulgular, Sonuç, Anahtar Kelimeler
o English: Objectives, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusion, Keywords
• Keywords must consist of 3–5 terms, listed in alphabetical order, and selected in accordance with MeSH (https://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/meshhome.html) and Türkiye Bilim Terimleri (https://www.bilimterimleri.com/).
The first letter of the first word of each keyword must be capitalized.
Keywords must be separated by commas.
4. Title Page
• The title page must be uploaded as a separate file and include the following information:
o The full title of the manuscript in Turkish and English (not exceeding 15 words) and a short title (not exceeding 50 characters including spaces).
o Author information: full names of all authors, academic titles, affiliations, ORCID IDs, and email addresses.
o Telephone number and full mailing address of the corresponding author.
o Information on financial support, conflicts of interest, and acknowledgements.
Institution names mentioned in the full text must be written as XXXXX and provided on the title page in the format: XXXXXX: ………
5. Figures and Tables
• In original research articles, the total number of tables and figures must not exceed 8.
• Figures and tables must be both embedded within the text and uploaded as a separate combined file.
• Figure legends must appear below the figures, while table titles must appear above the tables.
• Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals (e.g., Table 1, Figure 2).
• Tables must be prepared without gridlines; only a single line should separate the main headings from the data.
• Tables must be prepared using Times New Roman font, with 1.15 line spacing, with the top row in 10 pt, content rows in 9 pt, and table titles in 8 pt.
• Tables must not be submitted in image formats (e.g., JPEG, PNG). They must be created using Word, Excel, or similar text/table editors.
• Figures must be in TIFF or JPEG format, with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI and minimum dimensions of 100×100 mm.
• Figure legends must be placed below the figures and prepared in Times New Roman, 8 pt font, with 1.15 line spacing.
6. References
• References must be formatted according to Vancouver style.
• In-text citations must be indicated as superscripts, placed after punctuation marks at the end of the sentence, without leaving a space.
• If the author’s name appears in the sentence, the reference number must be written immediately after the author’s name, at the end of the relevant expression, as a superscript following the punctuation mark.
o Example: This relationship was demonstrated in the study conducted by Yılmaz¹.
• The reference list must be prepared with the heading “References” in 11 pt, and all entries in 10 pt, Times New Roman font, with 1.15 line spacing.
• Each reference type must follow the appropriate format, and only sources cited in the text should be included. Identification numbers from databases such as PMID, PMCID, or PMC must not be added.
• If there are six or fewer authors, all authors must be listed. If there are seven or more authors, the first three authors should be listed, followed by “et al.”
• According to Vancouver style, only journal names, book titles, and thesis titles should be italicized. All other elements—including author names, article titles, publisher information, page numbers, and website addresses—must be written in regular font.

• In Vancouver style, repeated digits in page ranges are omitted. For example:
151 to 158 → 151-8

• However, if two page numbers differ by only one digit, the full numbers must be written:

7. Ethical Principles and Documents
• Ethics committee approval is required for original research. The relevant approval document must be uploaded to the system, and ethics committee information must be included in the “Materials and Methods” section.
• For studies that do not require ethics committee approval, justification must be provided.
• For case reports, informed consent forms and patient consent documents must be uploaded.
For manuscripts that do not require ethics committee approval, a written statement addressed to the editor explaining this must be uploaded to the system.
8. Acknowledgement
• Individuals who do not meet authorship criteria but contributed to the planning, execution, analysis, or reporting of the study may be acknowledged.
• Individuals, institutions, or organizations providing financial, material, or technical support must also be stated in this section.
• If applicable, the project name and/or grant number of supporting institutions or funds must be clearly specified.
• It is assumed that all acknowledged individuals have reviewed the content and consented to the inclusion of their names.
Example: “This study was supported by the XYZ Research Fund (Project No: 12345). The authors also thank Dr. Ayşe Kaya for her technical support.”
9. Similarity Report
• A similarity report obtained from iThenticate or Turnitin must be uploaded separately.
• The maximum acceptable similarity rate is 15%.
10. Copyright and Other Forms
• The Copyright Form, Conflict of Interest Form, and Author Contribution Form must be downloaded from the journal’s main page, signed with wet signatures, and uploaded to the system.
• A conflict of interest declaration is mandatory. All authors must disclose any financial or institutional relationships. This process is conducted in accordance with COPE and ICMJE guidelines.
11. Article Types
11.1 Original Research Article
Clinical and experimental studies are evaluated under this category.
Turkish: Giriş, Gereç ve Yöntemler, Bulgular, Tartışma, Sonuç.
English: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion.
Introduction
• The subject, significance, and objective of the research must be clearly stated.
• Relevant literature should be presented concisely.
• The research problem must be clearly defined.
Materials and Methods
• The study design, materials, and methods used must be described in detail.
• Devices, software, and chemicals used must be specified with their commercial names and origins.
• Statistical analysis methods must be stated.
• If available, the name of the ethics committee, approval date, and approval number must be provided. If not required, the justification must be stated.
Results
• The findings must be presented clearly and systematically.
• Where necessary, they should be supported with tables and figures. Information presented in tables and figures must not be repeated in the text.
• Statistical results must be provided along with significance levels.
Discussion
• The findings must be compared with the literature, and similarities and differences should be evaluated.
• The scientific and clinical significance of the findings must be explained.
• The strengths and limitations of the study must be stated, and suggestions for future research should be provided.
Conclusion
• The main outcomes of the study must be stated clearly and concisely.
• Repetition of findings should be avoided; focus should be on direct conclusions.
11.2 Review Article
Review articles should be systematically prepared in light of the scientific literature on current topics in dentistry, and the author(s) should have prior publications on the subject.
Introduction
• Introduces the topic and scope of the review.
• Explains why the topic is addressed and its relevance.
Subheadings
• The content should be organized into subheadings according to the structure of the topic, as deemed appropriate by the author.
• Each subheading should include up-to-date information, interpretations, and comparisons.
Conclusion
• The conclusions drawn from the review should be summarized, and recommendations may be provided.
• The review must end with a “Conclusion” heading.
• Review articles must not include original research data.
• If ethics committee approval is not required, this must be stated with justification.
• Preference is given to authors who have scientific publications related to the subject.
11.3 Case Report
This category includes reports of rare cases, cases that are difficult to diagnose or treat, not previously reported in the literature, or those with high educational value.
Turkish: Giriş, Olgu Sunumu, Sonuç.
English: Introduction, Case Report, Conclusion.
Introduction
• The importance of the case, its place in the literature, and the reason for its presentation must be explained.
• A brief literature review may be included.
Case Report
• The patient’s demographic information, reasons for admission, and clinical and radiological findings must be described in detail.
• The treatment process must be explained step by step, and any materials/medical devices used must be specified.
• Informed consent must be obtained from the patient and explicitly stated in the text.
• If any identifiable data (images, text) are used, confidentiality must be ensured in accordance with ethical principles.
Conclusion
• The evaluation of the case, its notable aspects, and comparison with the literature must be provided.
• The scientific and/or clinical contribution of the case must be emphasized.
11.4 Letter to the Editor
Letters to the Editor are written to provide comments, contributions, criticisms, or current and noteworthy information regarding a previously published article in the journal. They must meet the following criteria:
• The text must not include subheadings and should be concise, clear, and straightforward.
• A clear reference to the relevant article must be provided, including the title, authors, volume, year, issue, and page numbers.
• Citations to the article must be clearly indicated within the text and included in the reference list.
• Abstract, keywords, tables, figures, images, or other visuals must not be used.
• The letter must not exceed one page and should only address topics within the journal’s scope.
12. Review Process
• All manuscripts submitted to the journal are first evaluated by the editors.
• The editorial board reserves the right not to proceed with manuscripts that do not meet scientific quality or ethical standards.
• Manuscripts that meet formal and ethical requirements are sent to at least two expert reviewers in the relevant field.
• The peer review process is conducted using a double-blind system; authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other.
• Based on reviewers’ comments, the editor makes one of the following decisions:
o Accept
o Revise and resubmit
o Reject
• Authors must respond to reviewers’ comments within the specified time. Revised manuscripts may be sent back to reviewers if necessary.
13. Revision Process
In cases where revision is requested, authors must prepare a separate document addressing each reviewer comment individually and upload it to the system as a Word file titled “Response to Reviewers.”
While preparing the response:
• The line number of the revised text corresponding to each comment must be clearly indicated.
• Changes made in the main text must be highlighted.
Example:
If a reviewer comments that the origin of a material is not specified:
“The origin of the material used has been added in parentheses in line 56 of the manuscript.”
In the revised manuscript, the correction should be highlighted as follows:
“The treatment of internal resorption was carried out using MTA (Pro Root, Dentsply/Tulsa Dental, Tulsa, OK).”
