Abstract

Criminal responsibility in Parkinson patients with deep brain stimulation: Case report

Year 2018, Volume: 32 Issue: 3, 130 - 133

Abstract

Deep brain stimulation DBS is a surgical method used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease PH , the second most common neurodegenerative disorder in chronic and progressive conditions. Transient neuropsychiatric disorders may develop after DBS application, and patients may have criminal behavior from time to time. In this manuscript, we present two cases of PH with DBS treatment for forensic medical evaluation and the effects of DBS treatment on impulse control and to discuss criminal responsibility.
