Abstract
For this study we analyzed 56 kinds of beers brewed in the Netherlands or Belgium and offered for sale in the Zeeland region. Offered as gift packs or collections this leads to a beer tourism and an import to
Germany which is not to be underestimated. Up today satisfying experiences with the congener concentrations of such beers are missing, especially with strong beers. Therefore we analyzed the contents
of methanoL propanol-I, butanol-I, butanol-2, iso-butanol, 2-methylbutanol-1 and 3-methylbutanol-1. Thc results of these examinations are discussed. We found only partly and roughly normal distribution of the values or concentration. Because of calculations by arithmetical means can not be recommended the expert must know the congener concentrations or each specific beer.
