Abstract

Abstract

A nice smile; from past to present, has an important role in gaining a place in social environment. Throughout history, people have tried to identify the elements that make face and smile more aesthetic. However, the concept of beauty is relative and may vary according to individuals, cultures and periods. To increase the aesthetics of smile; It is important to decide the correct treatment approach. Accordingly, the face and teeth should be evaluated extensively by considering all the components of the smile. The digital smile design allows careful analysis of the characteristics of the face and teeth, allowing for enhanced diagnostic vision and improved treatment predictability. There are several analysis parameters to consider when designing a smile digitally . These analysis parameters are carefully evaluated in a certain order and in harmony with each other. Nowadays, increasing aesthetic expectations of patients and clinicians have led to the spread of computer software programs used for digital smile design in clinical applications. Design applications increase treatment predictability and allow effective communication between team members. Digital smile design programs can be used in dentistry to analyze the results of the treatments, planned for prosthetic dentistry, orthodontics, dental implant treatment, gingival arrangements, oral and maxillofacial surgery. With the developments in computer aided design and production systems, digital smile design applications are expected to become an integral part of the treatments.
