Son 10 Yılda Spor Yönetimi Alanında Yapılmış Olan Çalışmaların Bibliyometrik Analizi

Year 2025, Volume: 2 Issue: 2, 115 - 136, 30.12.2025

Abstract

Bibliometric Analysis of Literature on Sport Management in the Last 10 Years Literature on Sport Management in the Last 10 Years

Year 2025, Volume: 2 Issue: 2, 115 - 136, 30.12.2025

Abstract

The field of sport management is a discipline that covers the management process of organizations or events organized in amateur or professional sport. The aim of this study is to examine the articles published in the field of sports management over the last decade through bibliometric methods, in order to reveal the current development of the field in a comprehensive manner. The data of the research were obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) database. The scope was limited to articles written in English, with the subject “sport management,” and published between 2015 and 2025. After applying the limitation criteria and data cleaning, a total of 1,123 articles were obtained. As the research method, bibliometric analysis was used. During the bibliometric analysis, R-Bibliometrix was used for performance analysis and VOSviewer for mapping analysis. According to the research results, the productive years were 2020 (136) and 2024 (122), and the journal Sport Management Review was the journal with the most publications. The most cited author was found to be Skinner, J. It can be stated that the five most frequently used keywords in the articles were “impact,” “sport,” “management,” “model,” and “performance.” The country with the most publications and citations was the United States, followed by Australia and the United Kingdom. Finally, in the United States, the most productive institution was Texas A&M University. In addition, it can be said that the topics emphasized in the field of sport management have changed over the last 10 years. In 2015, the topics emphasized were more related to self-esteem, consumer, and brands, while in the 2020s, performance, women, management, and leadership became more prominent. By 2024, the emphasized topics were internships, disability, and skills.
