Guttural Pouch Mycosis and Mycotic Encephalitis in Horses

Year 2016, Volume: 5 Issue: 1, 423 - 425, 01.01.2016

Abstract

Backgorund/Aim: Guttural pouch mycosis is known as which is caused by the invasion of Aspergillosis spp. The importance of mycoses of the guttural pouch; is that the disease can progress and cause mycotic encephalitis. Mycotic encephalitis is a disease group that rarely seen in horses that is hard to diagnose before death. It has very limited treatment options and shows itself with atypical clinical manifestations. The disease can be easily overlooked, in this cause, the ultimate end is either patient loss or economic loss. The purpose of this review is to give adequate information about the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and especially prevention methods about mycotic encephalitis, which is rarely seen in veterinary literature.

Atlarda Hava Kesesi Mikozları ve Mikotik Ensefalit

Year 2016, Volume: 5 Issue: 1, 423 - 425, 01.01.2016
