The Determination of Calcium (Ca) Concentrations and Trace Elements in Human Teeth Using Radioisotope Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) Technique

Abstract

In this study, by using EDXRF technique, the determination of calcium (Ca) concentration and trace elements found in human teeth seperating in accordance with male-female gender and specific age groups is made. For this purpose, In order to excite the samples a 241Am radioisotope source with 50 mCi intensity and 59.5 keV energy and another 55Fe radio isotope source with 100 mCi intensity and 5.96 keV energy. To count the characteristic X-rays emitted from samples, an ultra LEGe detector with resolution 150 eV at 5.96 keV, was used. The analysis results in human tooth samples S, Ca, Cu and Zn trace elements were found to be.

Enerji Dağılımlı X-Işını Floresans (EDXRF) Tekniği Kullanılarak İnsan Dişinde Kalsiyum (Ca) Konsantrasyonlarının ve İz Elementlerin Tayini

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Enerji Dağılımlı X-ışını Floresans (EDXRF) tekniği kullanılarak insan dişini, erkek-kız cinsiyetlerine ve belli yaş gruplarına göre ayırarak insan dişinde kantitatif ve kalitatif analiz ölçümleri yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla, diş örneklerini uyarmak için 50 mCi şiddetinde, 59.5 keV enerjili 241Am radyoizotop kaynağı ile 100 mCi şiddetinde, 5.96 keV enerjili 55Fe radyoizotop kaynağı kullanılmıştır. Diş örneklerinden yayınlanan karakteristik X-ışınlarını saymak için rezülasyonu 5.96 keV’de 150 eV olan ultra LEGe dedektörü kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda insan diş örneklerinde S, Ca, Fe, Cu ve Zn iz elementleri olduğu saptanmıştır.
