RETROSPECTIVE EVALUATION OF MULTICENTER TRIGEMINAL SCHWANNOMA CASES

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to evaluate size and location of trigeminal schwannoma in terms of selected surgical procedures and surgical outcomes.MATERIAL AND METHODS: 14 patients were included in the study that is operated for trigeminal schwannoma between the years 2008-2015 in Ankara Training and Research Hospital and Ankara Numune Education and Research Hospital neurosurgery clinics. In all cases diagnostic x-ray, computed tomography CT , magnetic resonance imaging MRI and in some cases cerebral angiography has been used. Case evaluation based on the size, location and selected surgical procedure.RESULTS: The mean age of patients was 45.1. In all cases, follow-up was 3 months. 11 cases with posterior fossa , 2 case with middle fossa, one of cases showed the placement of multiple components . In surgery, 12 cases totally resected, 2 cases were gross total resected. 2 cases of postoperative facial paralysis were appeared.CONCLUSION: Rare cases of trigeminal schwannoma tumors with complex anatomical location in the surgical treatment and goal should be totally resection

ÇOK MERKEZLİ TRİGEMİNAL SCHWANNOMA OLGULARININ RETROSPEKTİF OLARAK DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

AMAÇ: Trigeminal Schwannoma olgularının yerleşim yeri, boyut, seçilen cerrahi yöntem ve cerrahi sonuçlar açısından değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: 2008-2015 yılları arasında Ankara Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi ile Ankara Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Kliniklerinde trigeminal schwannoma nedeniyle opere edilen 14 hasta çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Tanısal olarak tüm olgularda x-ray, bilgisayarlı tomografi BT , manyetik rezonans görüntüleme MRG ve bazı olgularda serebral anjiyografi kullanılmıştır. Olgular muayene bulguları, kitlenin yerleşim yeri ve seçilen cerrahi yönteme dayanılarak değerlendirilmiştir.BULGULAR: Olguların yaş ortalaması 45,1’di. Tüm olgularda takip aralığı 3 ay olup olguların 11’i sadece posterior fossa, 2’si sadece orta fossa, 1’i ise birden fazla komponentte yerleşim göstermekteydi. Cerrahide 12 olguya total, 2 olguya ise gross total rezeksiyon gerçekleştirildi. 2 olguda postoperatif fasial paralizi ortaya çıktı.SONUÇ: Ender görülen Trigeminal Schwannoma olguları karmaşık anatomik yerleşim eğilimleri olan tümörlerdir ve cerrahi tedavilerinde amaç kitleyi total olarak çıkartmak olmalıdır
