THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ARTERIAL CALCIFICATIONS DETECTED ON MAMMOGRAPHY AND EARLY HYPERTENSIVE RETINOPATHY

Year 2016, Volume: 49 Issue: 3, 192 - 196, 01.12.2016

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between the arterial calcifications detected on mammography and with the presence of hypertension HT and hypertensive retinopathy HTRP in premenopausal women.MATERIAL AND METHODS: Between January and June 2012 the women who had arterial calcifications on mammography after having mammography for screening or diagnostic reasons were included. Thirty cases whose age range was between 40 to 55 years were examined. Hypertension was clarified after serial measurements and after internal medicine or cardiology consultations. The arterial pressure levels above 140/90mmHg was considered as HT. All patients were evaluated in terms of HTRP in ophtalmology department with biomicropscopy. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 15.0 for Windows SPSS, Inc., Chicago, IL . Fisher’s exact test was used.RESULTS: The mean age of the 30 patients in the study was 50.6 ± 3.3. In 14 cases 46.6% hypertension was present. In 9 patients 30% HTRP was detected. Of those 9 patients, 7 77.7% were stage 1 and 2 patients 22.3% had stage 2 as HTRP. Of the cases with HTRP, 8 of them were hypertensive. When evaluating patients without HT only in one patient with stage 1 HTRP was present. In patients who had aterial calcifiabtions in breast there was a significant relation between the presence of HTRP and HT. P

MAMOGRAFİDE SAPTANAN ARTERİYEL KALSİFİKASYONLARIN ERKEN HİPERTANSİF RETİNOPATİ İLE İLİŞKİSİ

Year 2016, Volume: 49 Issue: 3, 192 - 196, 01.12.2016

Abstract

İstatiksel analizde SPSS 15.0 for Windows SPSS, Inc., Chicago, IL . Fisher’in kesin olasılık testi kullanıldı.BULGULAR: Çalışmadaki 30 hastanın ortalama yaşı 50.6±3.3 idi. Olguların 14’ünde %46.6 HT mevcuttu. Dokuz hastada %30 HTRP tespit edildi. Dokuz hastanın 7’si %77.7 evre 1, 2 hasta %22.3 evre 2 HTRP olarak saptandı. HTRP tespit edilen olgulardan 8 tanesi hipertansifti. HT olmayan olgular değerlendirildiğinde sadece bir olguda evre 1 HTRP tespit edildi. Memede arteriyel kalsifikasyonu mevcut olan olguların HTRP varlığı ve HT varlığı açısından anlamlı ilişki saptandı. p
