Abstract

The aim of this study was to offer more knowledge and better understanding of compulsive use of SNSs among university students particularly investigating the effects of gender, motivational factors and personality on SNS addiction. The independent variables were gender, personality traits and personal motives for using SNS, and the dependent variable was the frequency of social networking sites usage. This research found that there is no effect of personality traits and only a slight difference between men and women on SNS addiction.  Only relaxing and entertainment motivation predicted SNS addiction.
