The articles sent to the Akdeniz Nursing Journal are first checked for compliance with the journal's spelling rules, similarity/plagiarism screening, and Ethics Committee Approval Certificate in research articles. Articles found technically appropriate are directed to the Editor. Editorial articles are evaluated in terms of compliance with the purpose, scope and publication policies of the journal, and original value. At this stage, the editor has the right to reject the articles directly. If there is no reason to reject the article, the article is sent to the Biostatistics Editor, Ethics Editor and, if necessary, to the English Language Editor.

After approval by the Biostatistics Editor, Ethics Editor, and Language Editor, the Editor sends the article to the relevant Field Editor. The Field Editor sends the article to at least two referees working in different universities who are experts in the subject area of the article. Referees invited for article evaluation are requested to accept the invitation within seven days at the latest. Referees are given a maximum of 15 days for their evaluation, which may be extended by the Editor and/or Field Editors. The referees examine the manuscript in terms of method, content, originality, and publication ethics and decide whether it is suitable for publication or whether correction is required. After evaluating the article, the referees send the evaluation form containing their comments and suggestions to the Field Editor. In case of a positive or negative opinion from the referees regarding the publication of the article, the article is sent to a third referee. The referee's comments and suggestions are forwarded to the authors by the Field Editor, and they are asked to upload the corrected article back to the system. Authors' revision period is 30 days at the latest. If the referees want to see the article again after correction, the article is sent back to the referees for evaluation. The referees notify the Editor of the Field within 15 days of their opinions regarding the revision, acceptance, or rejection of the article. The comments from the referees are evaluated by the Field Editor within seven days at the latest and sent to the Editor. The editor has the authority to accept the referee's opinions and the evaluation of the Field Editor, or to reject the article by showing reasonable justification(s) in order to protect the quality/prestige of the journal. The authors of the articles that are decided to be published are asked to review their articles, make suggestions for corrections in terms of journal writing rules and layout, and "publishing approval" is obtained in writing. After this stage, the articles are published in the Early Online articles section in order of acceptance date.
