Abstract

Kamilet Vadisi (Arhavi, Artvin), zengin bir biyolojik çeşitliliğe sahip Kafkas sıcak noktası sınırları içerisinde yer alan, memeli türlerini de içeren yüksek düzeyde biyolojik çeşitliliğe sahip olması bakımından önemli bir alandır. Bu çalışma kapsamında Kamilet Vadisi’nde yaşayan memeli türlerinin ve güncel koruma statülerinin belirlenmesi amaçlandı. Araştırma alanında, memeli hayvanların belirlenmesi amacıyla doğrudan (noktada gözlem ve fotokapan) ve dolaylı gözlem (ayak izi ve dışkı tespiti gibi) yöntemleri kullanıldı. Bunlara ilaveten, türlerin tespiti için literatürde yer alan yayılış kayıtları ve yerel halk ile yapılan anket yöntemi kullanıldı. Çalışma sonucunda, alanda beş memeli takımından 12 familyaya ait toplam 22 küçük ve büyük memeli hayvan türün yayılış gösterdiği tespit edildi. Tespit edilen türlerin ulusal ve uluslararası düzeyde güncel koruma durumları (IUCN, BERN, CITES ve MAKK) listelendi. Alanda tespit edilen türlerin tamamının IUCN kırmızı listesinde LC (Az endişe verici) kategorisinde olduğu belirlendi. BERN sözleşmesine göre, yedi türün Ek Liste 3’te bir türün de Ek Liste 2’de yer aldığı tespit edildi. CITES sözleşmesine göre, üç türün Ek Liste 3’te bir türün Ek Liste 2’de ve iki türün de hem ek Liste 1 hem de Ek Liste 2’de yer aldığı saptandı. Kamilet Vadisi'nde yaşayan memeli türlerinin ve koruma statülerinin belirlenmesini amaçlayan bu çalışma, ülkemiz biyolojik çeşitliliğinin belgelenmesine, sürdürülebilirliğine ve korunmasına katkı sağlaması bakımından önemli bir çalışmadır.

Mammal species of Kamilet Valley (Arhavi, Artvin) and their conservation status

Abstract

Kamilet Valley (Arhavi, Artvin) is an important area in terms of having a high level of biodiversity, including mammal species, located within the borders of the Caucasian hotspot with rich biodiversity. Within the scope of this study, it was aimed to determine the mammal species living in Kamilet Valley and their current conservation status. In the research area, direct (spot observation and camera trap) and indirect observation (such as footprint and scat detection) methods were used for the determination of mammals. In addition to these, the distribution records in the literature and the survey method with the local people were used to determine the species. As a result of the study, it was determined that a total of 22 small and large mammal species belonging to 12 families of five mammalian order were distributed in the area. The current national and international conservation status (IUCN, BERN, CITES, and MAKK) of the identified species were listed. All of the species detected in the area were determined to be in the LC (Least Concern) category in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. According to the BERN Convention, it was determined that seven species were included in Appendix 3, and one species was in Appendix 2. Three species were found in Appendix 3, one species in Appendix 2, and two species in both Appendix 1 and Appendix 2 with respect to the CITES Convention. This study, which aims to determine the mammal species and their conservation status living in the Kamilet Valley, is a remarkable study in terms of contributing to the documentation, sustainability and protection of our country's biological diversity.
