Relationships Between Yield and Yield Components in Potato ( Solanum tuberosum L.) Cultivars with Different Minituber Sizes

Year 2004, Volume: 17 Issue: 2, 127 - 133, 01.12.2004

Abstract

In this research, two different minituber sizes (11.0-15.0 g and 2.0-4.0 g) of Concorde, Granola, Marabel, Marfona and Velox potato cultivars were used materials. The aim of the research was to determine relationships between yield and yield components and minituber field performance of different minituber sizes. The heavy (11.0-15.0 g) minitubers gave a higher stem number per plant, tuber number and tuber weight per plant than light minitubers (2.0-4.0 g). The light minitubers produced approximately 1-4 stems per plant and 5-7 tubers per plant. Whereas, heavy minitubers produced more stem and tuber per plant than plants from light minitubers. Usable tuber percentage as a seed (tubers bigger than 30 mm in size) were found approximately 80-85% in each two minituber sizes. In general, positive relationships were found between tuber weight per plant and plant height, stem number per plant, tuber number per plant and average tuber weight. These results of this study indicate that small minitubers can be used effectively to expand production of basic potato seed stocks.

Farklı Mini Yumru Büyüklüklerinde Patates (Solanum tuberosum L.) Çeşitlerinde Verim ve Verim Komponentleri Arasındaki İlişkiler

Year 2004, Volume: 17 Issue: 2, 127 - 133, 01.12.2004
