Effects of Body Condition Score, Age and Live Weight on the Some Performance Characteristics of Turkgeldi Ewes

Abstract

Effects of body condition score (CS), age and live weight in different physiologicai stages on the reproductive performance of the ewes and birth and weanîng weight of lambs were investigated. Ewes (n=159), 2 to 1O years aged were weighed and scored at mating, lambing, vveanîng stages and lambs (n=166) were also weighed at birth and weanîng.
Efiect of CS on litter size was found significant (p<0.05) but eflect of ewe age was found non-signifıcant. Statistical analyses also showed that the age of ewe had significant effect on the birth and weanîng weight of lambs (p<0.05). Weight of lambs at both stages were not affected by the condition score and the live weight of ewes.

Türkgeldi Koyunlarında Kondüsyon Puanı, Yaş ve Canlı Ağırlığın Bazı Performans Özellikleri Üzerine Etkileri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada farklı fizyolojik dönemlerde sahip olunan kondüsyon puanı, canlı ağırlık ve ana yaşının koyunlarda üremeye yönelik performans değerleri ile doğum ve sütten kesim ağırlıkları üzerine etkileri incelenmiştir. Çalışmada yaşlan 2 ile 10 arasında değişen koyunlar (n= 159) koç katımı, kuzulama ve sütten kesim dönemlerinde tartılarak kondüsyon puanlan tespit edilirken, kuzulara (n=166) ilişkin canlı ağırlık tartından doğum ve sütten kesim dönemlerinde saptanmıştır.
Aşım döneminde saptanan kondüsyon puanı grupları arasında doğuran koyun başına doğan kuzu sayısı bakımından gözlenen farklılıkların önem taşıdığı (p<0.05), buna karşın söz konusu ölçütün ana yaşından etkilenmediği saptanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, aynı zamanda, ana yaşının gerek doğum gerekse de sütten kesim ağırlığı üzerinde önemli etkiye sahip olduğunu (p<0.05), ancak söz konusu özelliklerin kondüsyon puanı ve canlı ağırlıktan etkilenmediğini ortaya koymaktadır.
